Soekarno-Hatta Airport Prepares for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims' Return
To welcome the return of Indonesia’s 2026 Hajj pilgrims, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport has implemented various facilities to ensure safe, smooth, and orderly operations. The return phase will run from 1 to 30 June 2026 via Terminal 2F, with the first batch arriving from Jeddah.
General Manager Heru Karyadi stated that all facilities, personnel, and operational support have been mobilised to guarantee the safe and orderly return of pilgrims until the conclusion of Hajj operations. “Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is ready to welcome Indonesian Hajj pilgrims returning from the holy land,” he said on 31 May.
He added that all service aspects, including facility readiness, arrival flow management, operational personnel support, and coordination with stakeholders, have been secured. On 1 June, 836 pilgrims will arrive from Jeddah via two flights operated by Garuda Indonesia and Saudia Airlines, comprising 391 from Pondok Gede debarkation and 445 from Bekasi debarkation.
In total, 34,853 pilgrims across 84 flight groups (kloter) are scheduled to return via the airport between 1-30 June. This includes 8,701 from Pondok Gede, 12,092 from Bekasi, 9,096 from Banten, and 14,964 feeder passengers from Lampung.
Arrival processes have been meticulously prepared, covering terminal areas, baggage handling systems, health facilities, and bus transportation to debarkation points before pilgrims return home. One key measure is the use of the Auto Gate All Indonesia system for Electronic Customs Declaration (E-CD) reporting. Authorities have urged the public and pilgrims’ families to refrain from collecting passengers directly at the terminal arrival area to prevent congestion and maintain operational efficiency. (SM)
