PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Branch in Tangerang, Banten, recorded passenger movements of 1,231,796 people up to H-2 before Eid 2026 or Thursday (19/3/2026). General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Heru Karyadi stated that from 13 March to 19 March 2026, Soekarno-Hatta Airport cumulatively served 1,231,796 passengers with 8,211 aircraft movements, growing by 8.3 per cent for passengers and 5.7 per cent for aircraft movements compared to the same period the previous year. “The increase in the number of passengers and aircraft movements indicates high public mobility during the Eid period, both for homecoming and holidays. This also reflects public confidence in air transport services,” said Heru in his statement, confirmed in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday. He stated that this growth was primarily driven by an increase in domestic traffic reaching 918,268 passengers or up 11.3 per cent, while international traffic was relatively stable at 313,528 passengers. According to him, the peak return flow for Eid 2026 at Soekarno-Hatta Airport is predicted to occur on 28 March 2026, with an estimated movement of 198,387 passengers and 1,221 flights. “We continue to ensure operational readiness across all lines, from facilities, personnel, to service flows, so that service users can still experience safe, comfortable, and smooth journeys during the Eid transportation period,” he said. Meanwhile, he said, the peak homecoming flow on Wednesday (18/3/2026) or H-3 before Eid saw Soekarno-Hatta Airport serving 191,173 passengers, both departures and arrivals. This number increased by 4.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded 183,141 passengers, while affirming the trend of passenger traffic growth in this year’s Eid transportation. “From the flight operations side, Soekarno-Hatta Airport also recorded 1,229 aircraft movements during the peak homecoming, serving domestic and international routes,” he explained. Several popular routes during the Eid transportation period are dominated by domestic destinations such as Denpasar, Medan, Makassar, Surabaya, and Padang. Meanwhile, for international routes, the most sought-after destinations include Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. Furthermore, Heru added that despite the significant traffic surge, airport operations continue to run smoothly through strengthened cross-agency coordination and optimisation of services across all terminal areas. “We urge all passengers to always check flight schedules and arrive earlier at the airport to anticipate crowds,” he said.
