Tangerang (ANTARA) - PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Branch in Tangerang, Banten, is opening a 24-hour shuttle bus pick-up and drop-off service for passengers at the airport to anticipate the surge during the Lebaran return transportation period in 2026.

“Yes. For the operation of transportation modes for vehicles, such as shuttle buses and so on, they are prepared for 24 hours,” said the General Manager of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Heru Karyadi, in Tangerang on Wednesday.

He explained that the land transportation services specifically for picking up and dropping off passengers at this flight terminal are focused on supporting the movements of returnees during the Lebaran return flow in the arrival area of Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

In addition, the Skytrain or overhead train units are also prepared for 23 hours of operation to assist aviation service users in accessing between terminals.

Heru stated that during the significant traffic surge, airport operations continue to run smoothly through strengthened cross-agency coordination and optimisation of services across all terminal areas.

“For personnel readiness, we never reduce personnel readiness. In fact, for this transportation period, we continue to prepare the same number of personnel as yesterday. So, we are still providing the same number of personnel for this return flow as for the outbound flow,” he clarified.

In this regard, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) predicts that the Lebaran return flow at the airport will occur in two peak waves, namely on Tuesday (24/3) and Saturday (28/3).

He said that for the second peak wave of the return flow predicted to occur on 28 March 2026, there will be passenger movements estimated at around 198,387 passengers and 1,221 flights in one day.

“Today, 14 March 2026, we plan to serve 190,000 passengers, but the peak is still predicted for Saturday, 28 March 2026,” he said.

According to him, the current flight and passenger numbers from the operational plan exceed predictions. Since the beginning of the trend or aircraft movement traffic, it has reached 1,184 flights with 190,000 passengers.

Meanwhile, the service realisation up to the period of Saturday (14/3) H-7 to Tuesday (24/3) H+2 for the Lebaran 2026 outbound flow at Soekarno-Hatta Airport has reached 1,983,067 people.

“Based on our records from the initial outbound period from 14 to 24 March 2026, we have served 1,983,067 passengers,” he stated.

Cumulatively, they have served 1.9 million passengers with 13,184 aircraft movements, or a growth of 5.6 percent compared to the same period in 2019 as a normal recovery period.
