Soekarno-Hatta Airport Confirms Jatiwaringin Landfill Fire Not Disrupting Flights

The management of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport branch office has confirmed that flight operations are not affected by the fire at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Mauk, Tangerang Regency. The fire location is approximately 13 kilometres from the runway of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. “Currently, operational conditions at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are running normally. Take-off and landing activities are proceeding as usual,” said Assistant Deputy for Communication and Legal at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport branch office, Yudistiawan, on Wednesday (1/7). A similar statement was made by the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, who said the fire at the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site in Mauk, Tangerang Regency, is not disrupting flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. According to Suharyanto, firefighting efforts are being intensified to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading. “To date, flight operations are still running normally and have not been affected,” said BNPB Head Lieutenant General Suharyanto in an official statement. BNPB, together with the local government and all relevant parties, continues to optimise firefighting efforts so that the fire can be quickly brought under control, does not spread, and its impact on the community and other strategic sectors is minimised. “According to information from the local government, medical teams have been placed on standby to provide health services to residents experiencing respiratory problems. In addition, masks have also been distributed as a mitigation measure to reduce the risk of smoke exposure,” Suharyanto revealed.
