Soekarno-Hatta Airport Closure Extended Until Midnight

Flight operations at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport have been suspended for an extended period due to volcanic activity from Mount Anak Krakatau.

Soekarno-Hatta Airport has halted flight operations until 00.00 WIB on Monday (7/9/2026).

The information was conveyed through an official announcement from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Sunday (6/9/2026). Previously, flight operations at the airport were temporarily suspended due to the impact of volcanic ash from the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau and were scheduled to reopen at 17.30 WIB.

“In connection with the increased eruption activity of Mount Anak Krakatau, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport is suspending flight operations until 00.00 WIB on 7 September 2026,” the Soekarno-Hatta Airport announcement stated on Sunday (6/9/2026).

The airport has urged all passengers to re-check their flight status and schedules through official airline channels before travelling.

The extension of the operational suspension comes amid volcanic activity from Mount Anak Krakatau that has affected the distribution of volcanic ash across several regions.

Previously, volcanic ash disruption from Anak Krakatau had impacted a number of flights and the operations of several airports in the Banten, Lampung, Jakarta and West Java regions.
