Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo Officer Steals Lululemon Bags, Operation Dates Back to 2024
The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police have arrested a cargo officer at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten, for stealing Lululemon branded bags, causing approximately Rp 1 billion in losses to an export company. The perpetrator has been operating since 2024.
“Based on the investigation, it was discovered that this group of thieves had carried out several thefts of bags since 2024 until 2026,” said the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Yandri Mono, in a statement on Friday (May 15, 2026).
To investigators, the perpetrators admitted to having carried out three large-scale thefts. “But there have been many smaller thefts that were never reported,” said Yandri.
The three suspects are identified by the initials R, also known as K, A, and F. They were arrested in the Karawaci area, Tangerang City, on Wednesday (April 29) at around 00:30 WIB. R, who is the mastermind, works as an export operations team at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo.
Chronology
The case began with a report, No. LP/B/48/IV/2026/SPKT/Polresta Soekarno-Hatta Airport/Metro Jaya Police, dated April 27, 2026, regarding a case of theft and/or receiving stolen goods.
The chronology began on Monday (April 13) at 3:30 PM, in the parking area of the Soewarna Warehouse at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten. The victim in this case is PT Pungkook Indonesia One, which is located in Grobogan, Central Java.
“The company had previously sent 4,749 Lululemon branded bags from Grobogan to Shanghai, China, via Garuda Indonesia cargo,” said the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Kompol Yandri Mono.
The goods were shipped on Friday (April 10) and arrived at Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Monday (April 13), before being scheduled to be flown to Shanghai using Garuda Indonesia flight GA 0894 on the Jakarta-Shanghai route on Tuesday (April 14).
“However, on April 20, 2026, the company received a notification from a customer in Shanghai that 108 bags were missing. As a result of this incident, the victim suffered losses of up to Rp 213 million,” explained Yandri.
Based on the investigation and examination of CCTV footage in the RA BST area and the Soewarna Warehouse, police found that 40 cartons out of a total of 512 cartons were deliberately set aside during the X-ray inspection process.
“Suspect F played a role in ensuring that these 40 cartons were separated from the inspection and placed in a box truck,” he said.
R is the mastermind and also the executor of the theft from this syndicate. He works as an export operations team at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Cargo. Meanwhile, A helped with the execution of the theft, and F was in charge of arranging the goods so that they could be set aside from the inspection route.
“Based on the examination, 80 of the stolen bags were sold to a fence with the initials BO for Rp 300,000 each. The total sales reached Rp 24 million,” he said.
As a result of this theft, the export company suffered losses of more than Rp 1 billion. In the disclosure of this case, the police also secured a number of pieces of evidence in the form of export shipping documents and CCTV recordings.
“(Then) data from the Garuda Indonesia GA 0894 flight manifest, documents from the weighing of goods, a Toyota Avanza belonging to suspect RR, and an Isuzu box truck used to transport the goods,” he said.
The suspects are charged with Article 477 of the Criminal Code, paragraph g, regarding the crime of theft committed together or in collusion, with a maximum penalty of 7 years in prison.
