Soeharto's granddaughter marries

JAKARTA: Eno Sigit, the granddaughter of former president Soeharto from his first son Sigit Harjojudanto, got married to Fahmi David, with the wedding reception held at her father's house in the upmarket housing complex on Jl. Jusuf Adiwinata, Central Jakarta, on Sunday.

The wedding, which started at 1 p.m., caused several roads nearby, including Jl. Cendana, Jl. Rasamala and Jl. Jusuf Adiwinata, to be closed to the public until the reception had finished on Sunday afternoon.

"But the closure did not affect nearby traffic," a police officer, who declined to reveal his name, said.

Former Army's special force commander Prabowo, Sri Edi Swasono, fashion designers Itang Yunaz and Ghea Panggabean were among the guests attending.

Soeharto was reported by Antara to have attended too, but was only present for a short time.

Some plainclothed military officers and police safeguarded the area from any unwanted intruders.

"The wedding reception was all under control," an unnamed intelligence officer told The Jakarta Post. --JP
