Soeharto Cup title decided in playoff

JAKARTA (JP): Martubi, the overnight leader from the Krakatau
Golf Club, came out of nowhere to win the prestigious Soeharto
Cup golf title after a playoff at the Bumi Serpong Damai course
yesterday.

Martubi and two players, Syahrudin and Sonny Warsono - both
from Sawangan - were tied on top each with a 135. Martubi was
luckier as he birdied on the 11th hole of the playoff while his
close rivals both shot a par.

In the women's event, vying for the Madam Tien Soeharto Cup, a
10-handicapper Djamilah from Pondok Indah course won the coveted
trophy after carding a 143.

Veteran Hawani Tobing, who was in the lead at the opening
round, was relegated to second place with a 145, a score she
shared with Rita Dainewy. (rsl).
