SOE Synergy Launches Blue Impact Programme to Boost South Lampung Coastal Economy

PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), together with seven other state-owned enterprises (BUMN), has launched the Blue Impact programme at Minang Rua Beach, Kelawi Village, South Lampung Regency. The programme seeks to integrate environmental conservation with community empowerment through coral reef conservation activities, financial literacy education, and free health check-up services.

PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) Corporate Secretary Dian Sovana stated that this activity represents the SOEs’ commitment to providing sustainable benefits for the environment and coastal communities. “Through this collaboration, we aim to deliver a tangible impact on the environment while improving the quality of life for the community,” Dian said on Thursday, 18 June 2026.

According to her, the sea plays a vital role as a source of life, a pillar of food security, and an economic driver for coastal communities, so its sustainability must be protected together. She explained that coral reefs, for instance, have a strategic function as a habitat for various marine biota, a natural protector of beaches from abrasion and waves, and a support for the balance of the coastal ecosystem. “Therefore, conservation efforts need to be carried out sustainably by involving various parties, including the local community,” she said.

In addition to planting and conserving coral reefs, participants in the Blue Impact programme also received financial literacy education. It is hoped that they will subsequently be able to improve their family financial management skills and encourage the economic independence of coastal communities. Dian added that cross-sector synergy is an important factor in maintaining the sustainability of marine ecosystems while creating broader social and economic impacts for the community. “Conservation success cannot be achieved alone. Collaboration between companies, government, communities, and the public is key to ensuring that marine ecosystems remain protected and that their benefits can be felt by future generations,” she said.

Meanwhile, Head of the Tourism and Culture Office of South Lampung Regency, I Nyoman Setiawan, assessed that the programme aligns with the local government’s efforts to preserve coastal areas while strengthening the potential for sustainable tourism. “This activity carries two important and interrelated missions, namely coral reef rehabilitation and environmental education. Efforts to restore underwater ecosystems must be accompanied by increased public awareness so that environmental conservation can proceed sustainably,” he said.
