SOE Streamlining Process Involves Attorney General's Office and BPK

The government is involving various state institutions in the process of streamlining state-owned enterprises (SOEs), including the Attorney General’s Office and the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK). Junior Attorney General for Intelligence Reda Manthovani stated that other involved institutions include the Ministry of Law and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). All are members of the SOE Streamlining Oversight Team. “The team held a strategic coordination meeting at Wisma Danantara on Friday (3/7), attended by leaders of the relevant institutions and Deputy Minister of Law Eddy Hiariej,” Reda said. He explained that the government’s move to involve credible state institutions is a concrete and transparent step in implementing the SOE streamlining programme. According to him, during the meeting, the entire team affirmed their commitment to ensuring the streamlining process creates SOEs that are healthy, strong, and clean. “This initial meeting was to provide input regarding the streamlining of SOEs so that they are effectively organised, based on applicable legal procedures. Of course, the aim is for SOEs to be more effective and efficient in the future because they are one of the hearts of our economy,” Reda said. He stated that through comprehensive and cross-sector collaborative oversight, the streamlining process is expected to become an important foundation for building SOEs that are healthier, resilient, and globally competitive. He mentioned that this step is also intended to strengthen the role of SOEs as drivers of national economic growth and value creators for all Indonesian people. The Ministry of SOEs is carrying out a comprehensive transformation and restructuring by reducing the number of companies from 1,077 to approximately 200-300. By order of President Prabowo Subianto, the SOE streamlining process is to be fully executed by 2026. Data shows that as of 28 April, 167 SOEs have been liquidated within the past year. Besides liquidation, three other optimisation strategies are being employed: divestment, consolidation, and restructuring.
