SOE Streamlining Process Involves Attorney General's Office and BPK

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government is involving various state institutions in the process of streamlining, or the strengthening and simplification, of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), including the Attorney General’s Office and the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK).

The Junior Attorney General for Intelligence, Reda Manthovani, stated in Jakarta on Monday that other involved state agencies include the Ministry of Law and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). All these entities are part of the BUMN Streamlining Oversight Team.

“The team held a strategic coordination meeting at Wisma Danantara on Friday (3/7), attended by the leadership of the relevant agencies as well as Deputy Minister of Law, Eddy Hiariej,” said Redansi.

He explained that the government’s decision to involve credible state institutions is a concrete and transparent step in implementing the BUMN streamlining programme.

According to him, during the meeting, all involved teams reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the BUMN streamlining process creates enterprises that are healthy, strong, and clean.

“This initial meeting serves to provide input regarding the streamlining of BUMNs so they are managed effectively, based on applicable legal procedures. Naturally, the goal is for BUMNs to become increasingly effective and efficient in the future, as they represent one of the hearts of our economy,” said Reda.

He added that through comprehensive and collaborative cross-sector oversight, the streamlining process is expected to serve as a vital foundation for building BUMNs that are healthier, more accountable, and globally competitive.

He noted that this step also aims to strengthen the role of BUMNs as drivers of national economic growth and creators of value for all Indonesian people.

The Ministry of BUMN is undertaking a thorough transformation and restructuring of state enterprises, reducing 1,077 companies down to approximately 200-300 companies.

In accordance with the orders of President Prabowo Subianto, the BUMN downsizing process is to be fully executed by 2026.

Data shows that as of 28 April, 167 BUMNs have been liquidated within the last year. In addition to liquidation, there are three other BUMN optimisation strategies: divestment, consolidation, and restructuring.
