SOE Regulatory Body Pushes for Improved Access to Affordable Housing via Himbara
Synergies among state-owned enterprises must be capable of delivering easier and more inclusive financing access, thereby giving the public greater opportunities to obtain decent housing.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, is pushing for improved access to affordable and inclusive housing through the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), which comprises Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Bank Negara Indonesia, Bank Mandiri, and Bank Tabungan Negara.
“Synergies among state-owned enterprises must be capable of delivering easier and more inclusive financing access so that the public has greater opportunities to obtain decent housing,” said Dony, who is also the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Danantara, in an official statement confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Thursday.
To that end, Dony held a coordination meeting with Himbara to discuss the development of social housing programmes or affordable housing for the public.
The meeting addressed strengthening synergies among state-owned enterprises in the financial sector to promote broader, more inclusive, and sustainable access to public housing financing.
Discussions covered the development of adaptive financing schemes, improving public access to decent housing, and support for the construction of integrated settlements oriented towards community needs.
The Head of BP BUMN emphasised that synergies among state-owned enterprises need to be continuously strengthened to provide more inclusive financing access for the public.
The meeting also discussed efforts to enhance collaboration among Himbara member banks in delivering financing solutions that can reach more segments of society, particularly low- and middle-income groups.
This synergy is expected to support the acceleration of quality housing provision programmes with easier, more affordable, and sustainable financing schemes.
Strengthening the housing sector is also seen as capable of delivering broader economic impacts through bolstering the property sector and its supporting industries.
Through this collaboration, BP BUMN and Danantara continue to drive the strengthening of the national housing financing ecosystem to provide safe, quality, and affordable housing for the public.
This step forms part of the ongoing commitment of the government and state-owned enterprises in supporting the development of inclusive, productive settlements oriented towards improving public welfare.
