Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN), Dony Oskaria, has expressed his commitment to guiding a model of fundamental and inclusive economic growth, as mandated by President Prabowo Subianto.

According to Dony, economic growth that relies solely on macroeconomic percentage figures will struggle to create widespread prosperity and instead widen poverty levels. Therefore, under President Prabowo’s leadership, the state is undergoing a “restoration” with a primary focus on two pillars of sustainability: resilience and defence.

“We want to shift from artificial to fundamental economic growth. No country can be sovereign if it cannot meet its own food needs, secure its energy, and possess resilient human resources,” Dony stated in his official remarks received in Jakarta on Thursday.

To realise this vision, BP BUMN is directly overseeing various strategic programmes on the ground, covering food resilience, energy resilience, and human resource (HR) resilience.

Food resilience is a tangible programme of the Prabowo government that has successfully driven rice self-sufficiency. Dony explained the government’s structured steps to achieve self-sufficiency through the creation of new paddy fields, the addition of irrigation infrastructure, and the adjustment of the fertiliser business model (mark to market), which has successfully reduced fertiliser prices by up to 20 percent.

Meanwhile, in energy resilience, the government continues to promote downstream projects such as the conversion of coal into gas (Dimethyl Ether/DME), the cessation of solar imports, and the development of biofuels (ethanol and B50) to curb capital outflows.

SOEs are also supporting the national nutrition intervention programme (Free Nutritious Meals) as a pillar of HR resilience to break the stunting chain, which remains at 23 percent. Similarly, the development of ‘People’s Schools’ and ‘Garuda Schools’ for equitable access to education.

“This is not just an ordinary programme; it is a restoration process for Indonesia’s sustainability in the future. SOEs must be the main driving force that ensures this country is sovereign,” said Dony.
