SOE Regulator Ensures Maximum Handling and Swift Compensation for Train Accident Victims
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Body (BP BUMN) Tedi Bharata has assured maximum handling and swift compensation for victims of the train accident at Bekasi Timur Station. “All victims of the train accident are ensured to receive the best handling, and the rights of the victims and their families, including compensation, can be fulfilled quickly, accurately, and without administrative obstacles,” Tedi stated in his remarks confirmed by ANTARA from Jakarta on Wednesday. He made this statement while leading a meeting to discuss accelerating the distribution of compensation and health services for the victims of the train accident at Bekasi Timur. The discussion involved management from PT KAI (Persero), PT Jasa Raharja, PT Jasa Raharja Putera, BPJS Kesehatan, BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, as well as eight referral hospitals treating the victims. In addition, BP BUMN is urging the acceleration of the compensation process so that the rights of victims and their families can be received immediately and accurately without administrative obstacles. All costs for treatment and handling of the victims are ensured not to be borne by the victims’ families. Financing and guarantees are carried out through coordination among SOEs and related business entities, including PT Jasa Raharja, PT Jasa Raharja Putera, PT KAI, BPJS Kesehatan, and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. BP BUMN will continue to oversee this handling process to ensure that all rights of the victims and their families are fulfilled. The train accident involved a long-distance train and a commuter train on Monday (27/4) at Bekasi Timur Station, Bekasi, West Java. In the accident, the Argo Bromo train collided with the KRL Commuter Line that was stopped at Bekasi Timur Station, after a taxi stalled the KRL in the train crossing area near Bulak Kapal, according to the spokesperson of PT Kereta Api Indonesia Daop I Jakarta. As of Wednesday at 11:00 WIB, the number of fatalities in the accident between the Commuter Line train and the long-distance Diesel Train (KRD) at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night has increased to 16 people.
