SOE Regulator Applauds Bulog for Maintaining National Food Security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The State-Owned Enterprise Regulator (BP BUMN) has expressed its appreciation to Perum Bulog for its performance in maintaining national food security.
“BP BUMN appreciates the hard work of the entire Perum Bulogi team. This achievement, with absorption levels nearly reaching 100 per cent, demonstrates Perum Bulog’s commitment to supporting farmers,” said the Director of Management at BP BUMN, M Khoerur Roziqin, in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
Perum Bulog’s mandate covers the entire process from upstream to downstream to ensure the availability and stability of national food throughout the year. Perum Bulog is considered successful in performing two strategic functions simultaneously: absorbing the harvests of domestic farmers and distributing food to the public, both through price stabilisation programmes and government food assistance.
In terms of procurement, Perum Bulog has absorbed more than 3.9 million tonnes of rice equivalent to date, representing 99 per cent of its 4 million tonne assignment target. This absorption consists of 7.7 million tonnes of harvested unhusked paddy (GKP) and 35.8 thousand tonnes of rice.
“Every tonne of paddy absorbed means market and price certainty for farmers, while simultaneously strengthening the government’s rice reserves,” said Khoerur.
On the distribution side, Perum Bulog has distributed more than 810 thousand tonnes of rice through the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme, reaching 98 per cent of the 828 thousand tonne target. The SPHP programme, he noted, plays a crucial role in keeping rice prices affordable for consumers.
Perum Bulog has also completed the distribution of Food Assistance for the February-March 2026 period, with a receipt rate of 99.7 per cent. A total of 662 thousand tonnes of rice and 133 thousand litres of cooking oil were received by Food Assistance Recipients (PBP).
Meanwhile, the distribution of Food Assistance for the July-September 2026 period has reached 682 thousand tonnes, or 68.44 per cent of the 997 thousand tonne ceiling. Furthermore, Perum Bulog has received a renewed government mandate to distribute Food Assistance for the October-December 2026 period, with a planned distribution of 997 thousand tonnes of rice.
This assignment is part of the government’s efforts to maintain public purchasing power and food price stability until the end of the year.
“BP BUMN fully supports the assignment of Food Assistance distribution for the October-December 2026 period to Perum Bulog. With strong rice reserves from domestic absorption, we are confident that Perum Bulog can distribute assistance accurately, in the correct amount, and on time. BP BUMN will continue to oversee the process to ensure optimal implementation,” said Khoerur.
According to him, Perum Bulog’s success is inseparable from solid synergy with the Coordinating Ministry for Food, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Finance, the National Food Agency, BP BUMN, the TNI (National Armed Forces), and the Polri (National Police).
“BP BUMN will continue to support Perum Bulog in performing its role as the backbone of national food security, in order to achieve food self-sufficiency,” he concluded.
