Sodomizer jailed for 1 year

JAKARTA (JP): Sodomy defendant Nurochman, 26, did not react
when a judge sentenced him to a one-year jail term on Tuesday for
sodomizing a teenage boy in February this year.

Judge Thamrin Barzais of the East Jakarta District Court said
Nurochman, a jobless man, was convicted of sodomizing his teenage
neighbor at his home on Jl. Teratai Putih in East Jakarta on Feb.
3 this year.

"This was an amoral act that had been performed. The defendant
deserves what he gets," Thamrin told the courtroom on Tuesday.

The sentence was lighter than the 1.5-year jail term
prosecutor Djatmiko had earlier demanded.

Judge Thamrin said that the amoral act started after Nurochman
invited the boy to his empty home, showed him pornographic
photographs and dirty magazines, then raped him.

After the rape, the boy, whose identity was not revealed to
reporters, immediately informed his mother, who fainted upon
hearing about the incident.

The boy's parents wasted no time to report the incident to the
police. Nurochman was then arrested on Feb. 5. (ylt)
