Sodik Mudjahid Assumes Chairmanship of BAZNAS, Succeeding Prof. Noor Achmad and Continuing the Legacy of Goodwill
Dr. Ir. H. Sodik Mudjahid, M.Sc., the new Chairman of Indonesia’s National Zakat Board (BAZNAS), has pledged his commitment to continuing the beneficial programmes established by his predecessor. During the handover ceremony and farewell reception for BAZNAS leadership in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026, Mudjahid emphasised that his leadership will prioritise institutional continuity and quality improvement.
“We remain committed to furthering the good deeds that are part of natural law. Each day must be better than the last,” Mudjahid stated before the 2026-2031 BAZNAS leadership team and their predecessors.
Mudjahid clarified that improvement efforts are not a criticism of the previous board but rather represent the natural evolution of an institution striving for continuous development. “We are ready, God willing, to continue the beneficial work already undertaken,” he said.
According to Mudjahid, his leadership roadmap has been shaped by five major mandates from the President of Indonesia. These include maximising national zakat collection potential, projected to reach Rp327 trillion; strengthening inter-institutional cooperation and data synchronisation; and reinforcing BAZNAS structures down to village and sub-district levels.
“Another key mandate concerns combating corruption—an issue the President conveyed to us with utmost seriousness,” he stressed.
As a concrete step in building upon existing foundations, Mudjahid targets completing internal consolidation within a short timeframe. With what he describes as exceptional human resources, he is confident that internal policy frameworks will solidify within six months maximum.
“I will focus on working with fellow leaders to build networks supporting this internal process. We are ready to continue the charitable work undertaken by our predecessors,” Mudjahid added.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. KH. Noor Achmad, M.A., the outgoing BAZNAS Chairman for 2020-2025, delivered a profound message about the importance of sustained zakat advocacy to earn divine blessing. He also offered full support to Mudjahid as his successor.
“Zakat advocacy must continue to be championed and advanced, so that our work will truly obtain the blessing of Almighty Allah. Amen. I am 100 per cent confident that my friend Pak Sodik knows how to develop an organisation,” he explained.
With presidential approval and the formal handover ceremony, BAZNAS has officially entered a new leadership chapter for 2026-2031. The leadership transition has been entrusted to the incoming BAZNAS leadership team.
