Sodik Mudjahid Appointed Chair of National Zakat Agency, Commits to Continuing Charitable Legacy
The Chair of Indonesia’s National Zakat Agency (Baznas), Sodik Mudjahid, has committed to continuing the various charitable programmes established by his predecessor during the 2020–2025 period, KH. Noor Achmad. Mudjahid’s leadership will focus on continuity and improving the quality of the institution.
“We remain enthusiastic about continuing the good works that are a natural law. Today must be better than yesterday,” said Sodik at the Baznas RI Leadership Handover and Farewell Ceremony in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
According to him, this improvement effort is undertaken not because the previous board was ineffective, but as a natural dynamic of institutional life to continue developing. “We are ready, God willing, to continue the good works that have been implemented,” he said.
According to Sodik, his administration’s strategic steps forward have been outlined through five major mandates from the President of Indonesia. These mandates include unlocking the potential of national zakat, projected to reach Rp327 trillion, strengthening cooperation and data synchronisation between institutions, and reinforcing Baznas structures down to village and sub-district levels.
“Another mandate concerns fighting corruption. This is a mandate that he conveyed very seriously to us,” he said.
As a concrete step to continue the existing foundation, Sodik is targeting the completion of internal consolidation within a short timeframe. With support from human resources that he regards as exceptional, he is optimistic that internal policy packages will be established within a maximum of six months.
“I will focus more on the main task along with the leadership to build networks to support this internal process. We are ready to continue the good works implemented by the previous leadership,” said Sodik.
At the handover ceremony, Baznas RI Chair for the 2020–2025 period, KH. Noor Achmad, conveyed a message about the importance of ongoing zakat advocacy to gain the pleasure of Allah. He also gave full support to Sodik Mudjahid as his successor.
“Zakat advocacy must continue to be proclaimed and mobilised by us, so that what we do will truly obtain the pleasure of Allah Almighty. Amen. We are 100 per cent confident that my colleague Pak Sodik is a true friend who knows how to develop an organisation,” he said.
Through the ratification of a Presidential Decree by Prabowo Subianto and the formalisation of the leadership handover, Baznas RI has officially entered a new chapter of leadership for the 2026–2031 period.
