Sodik Mudjahid Appointed as Chair of Indonesia's National Zakat Board, Succeeding Noor Achmad
Jakarta – Sodik Mudjahid, Chair of Indonesia’s National Zakat Board (Baznas), has reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the beneficial programmes laid out by his predecessor, Noor Achmad.
At the handover and farewell ceremony for Baznas leadership in Jakarta on Friday, Mudjahid emphasised that his leadership would focus on continuity and improved institutional quality.
“We remain committed to pursuing acts of goodness that are part of Allah’s way. Today must be better than yesterday,” he said before the 2026–2031 leadership team and the previous Baznas leadership.
Mudjahid stated that this improvement effort was not because the previous management was inadequate, but rather reflected the natural evolution of an institution continuing to develop.
He outlined that his management’s strategic direction has been established through five major mandates from the President of Indonesia. These mandates include unlocking Indonesia’s zakat potential, projected to reach 327 trillion rupiah; strengthening cooperation and data synchronisation between agencies; and reinforcing Baznas structures down to village and sub-district levels.
“Another mandate concerns combating corruption. This is a mandate that the President conveyed to us with utmost seriousness,” he affirmed.
As a concrete step to build upon existing foundations, Mudjahid has targeted internal consolidation to be completed within a short timeframe. With what he described as exceptional human resources support, he expressed confidence that internal policy measures would be firmly in place within six months maximum.
“I will focus more on the primary task of building networks with leadership to support this internal process. We are ready to continue the charitable works already carried out by the previous leadership,” Mudjahid added.
Meanwhile, outgoing Baznas Chair for the 2020–2025 period Noor Achmad conveyed an important message about the significance of sustained zakat advocacy to earn Allah’s pleasure. He also offered full support to Mudjahid as his successor.
“We must continue to champion zakat advocacy and mobilise it, so that what we do will truly earn Allah’s pleasure. Amen. We are 100 per cent confident that my friend Sodik knows how to develop an organisation,” Noor Achmad said.
Following the endorsement by Presidential Decree from President Prabowo Subianto and the formal handover ceremony, Baznas has officially entered a new leadership chapter for the 2026–2031 period. The leadership team now consists of:
