“Find clear land for the People’s School,” said Agus Jabo in a written statement on Wednesday (6/5/2026). This was conveyed by Agus Jabo during an audience with the Head of the Social Service (Kadinsos) of Grobogan, Indri Agus Velawati, and the Head of Social Rehabilitation of Grobogan, Soemiati, at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (5/5). In addition to land status, other requirements that must be met include having road access and not being located in disaster-prone areas. Electricity and clean water must also be available in the area. Agus Jabo also urged the Grobogan Regency Government to quickly find land that meets the criteria for building a permanent People’s School. He hopes that Grobogan can join the school construction this year. “I want Grobogan to participate this year because it is included in the poor area (People’s School implementation),” he said. Agus Jabo’s statement is based on data. Looking at the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN) for the first quarter of 2026, the number of families in Grobogan included in Decile 1 reaches 69,671 families out of a total of 538,620 families. On this occasion, the Head of the Social Service (Kadinsos) of Grobogan, Indri Agus Velawati, revealed that they have proposed land measuring 6.75 hectares in Kalongan Ward, Purwodadi Subdistrict, to be used for building the People’s School. However, based on the survey results, the location does not meet the requirements because it falls into the LSD category. “The obstacle is LSD. On Monday, we, the regent, and the regional secretariat staff, as well as related regional apparatus organisations, have held an audience with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning,” she explained. Indri explained that geographically, the conditions in Grobogan are mostly agricultural land and serve as the primary national food buffer. She stated that they will coordinate with several ministries and strive to find other land that can be used to build the People’s School. “We have also coordinated with the Ministry of Forestry. But we also want to see if there is land outside social forestry, that will be processed from the Ministry of Forestry,” she said. For information, there is currently no People’s School in Grobogan Regency. On the other hand, this free education programme is greatly needed for children from pre-prosperous families in Deciles 1 and 2 of DTSEN there. This programme, an idea of President Prabowo Subianto, not only provides free education access but also alleviates poverty by involving students’ parents in empowerment programmes.
