Social Minister States 869,000 PBI JKN Participants Have Re-activated
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, presented the latest data on the re-activation and transition of participants in the Health Insurance Assistance Programme (PBI JKN) who were previously deactivated. Of the total 11 million participants who were temporarily deactivated, over 869,000 have been re-activated through various schemes.
This was revealed by Gus Ipul after attending a socialisation event on the National Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) at the Husni Hamid Hall, Karawang Regency Government Complex, West Java, today.
“Of the 11 million who were previously deactivated, some 869,000 have been re-activated through various schemes,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement, Thursday (February 26, 2026).
He detailed that 132,507 participants have been re-activated into the PBI JKN segment. Furthermore, 405,965 participants have transitioned to regional government funding through the PBPU/BP Pemda scheme. In addition, 184,357 participants have transitioned to the civil servant or SOE/BUMD segment.
“Because their status is now as civil servants or employees of SOEs/BUMDs. So this is quite a large number, and it is one indication that previously, the targeting was not entirely accurate,” said Gus Ipul.
According to him, 88 participants are recorded as having transitioned to funding from the private companies where they work. Meanwhile, 147,046 participants have chosen to move to the independent segment.
“In fact, 6,993 participants have moved up to class 2, and 2,990 participants have moved up to class 1,” explained Gus Ipul.
He affirmed that of the total 11 million participants who were deactivated, the majority were indeed appropriately targeted, but some still require data improvements. Therefore, the government has opened a re-activation mechanism for those who truly need it.
Gus Ipul said that he has signed the list of PBI recipients that will be valid for next month, with the note that PBI participants outside the 1-5 deciles will still remain participants for the next three months. During this period, the government will conduct socialisation to the public.
“We suggest that those who are able to switch to the independent segment, but for those who are unable, we will re-activate them through PBI JKN,” he said.
In addition, around 106,000 participants with chronic and catastrophic illnesses have been automatically re-activated, so they can immediately use PBI services.
Gus Ipul added that the ground check process will continue by matching the assets owned for the DTSEN update.
“There will still be field checks and measurements by BPS, so that consistency is maintained,” he concluded.
