Social Minister Says 869,000 of 11 Million PBI JKN Participants Have Re-activated Their Membership
Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf, also known as Gus Ipul, stated that out of the 11 million participants in the Health Insurance Assistance (PBI JKN) program who had their membership temporarily suspended, approximately 869,000 have now re-activated their membership.
“Out of the 11 million who were previously inactive, around 869,000 have become active again through various schemes,” said Gus Ipul after attending a socialization event for the National Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) at the Karawang Regency Government Complex, West Java, on Thursday (February 26).
Gus Ipul explained that out of the 11 million participants who had their membership suspended, the majority were indeed eligible for the program. However, he added that some participants still require data updates.
Therefore, the government has established a re-activation mechanism for those who genuinely need it.
Out of the 869,000 participants, approximately 106,000 are individuals with chronic and catastrophic illnesses, and their membership has been automatically re-activated, allowing them to access PBI services.
Gus Ipul detailed that 132,507 participants have re-activated their membership within the PBI JKN segment. Additionally, around 405,965 participants have switched to regional government funding through the PBPU/BP Pemda scheme.
Furthermore, 184,357 participants have transitioned to the civil servant or SOE/BUMD employee segment.
“Because their status is now as civil servants or employees of SOEs/BUMDs. So, this is a significant number, indicating that the targeting was not entirely accurate in the past,” said Gus Ipul.
Moreover, according to Gus Ipul, 88 participants have switched to company funding from their respective workplaces, while 147,046 participants have chosen to move to the independent segment.
“In fact, 6,993 participants have upgraded to Class 2, and 2,990 participants have upgraded to Class 1,” explained Gus Ipul.
Gus Ipul has also signed the list of PBI recipients for the upcoming month, with the provision that PBI participants outside the 1-5 deciles will remain participants for the next three months. During this period, the government will conduct socialization activities with the public.
“We encourage those who can afford it to switch to the independent segment, but we will re-activate those who cannot afford it through the PBI JKN,” he emphasized.
Gus Ipul added that the ground check process will continue by matching the assets owned for the DTSEN update.
“The field verification will still be carried out and measured by BPS, so that consistency is maintained,” he concluded.
