Social Minister Proposes Addition of 5,000 Teachers for People's Schools to Ministry of PAN-RB

Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, alias Gus Ipul, has proposed the addition of 5,000 teachers to teach at People’s Schools. He stated that the addition has already been submitted to the Ministry of PAN-RB.

“Yes, we have submitted to the Ministry of PAN-RB to add more than 5,000 teachers, and then more than 4,000 other educational personnel for these additional schools. For the overall, not just the addition,” said Gus Ipul to reporters at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Central Jakarta, Thursday (23/4/2026).

Gus Ipul mentioned that there are currently 45,000 students studying at People’s Schools. The number of students will continue to increase next year.

“This year we will add more than 30,000 student allocations, then we will see the realisation. So this year, the People’s Schools students are already more than 45,000,” said Gus Ipul.

“Next year, it will be more than 100,000, because next year our target according to the President’s instructions can accommodate more than 60,000 students,” he added.

Gus Ipul said the proposal for additional teachers for People’s Schools is being processed. Therefore, he said, the Ministry of Social Affairs will prepare the selection process.

“The implementation of the selection will be together with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. Meanwhile, for civil service administration, it will be with the Minister of PAN-RB and BKN,” he stated.

In addition, Gus Ipul assured that there will be a retreat event for the additional teachers after passing the selection. Those teachers will also receive training.

“There will still be a retreat, there will still be trainings,” he added.
