Social Minister: Permanent Buildings for People's Schools Targeted for Completion in July

Bandarlampung - The Social Minister (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf, stated that the permanent buildings for Sekolah Rakyat (SR) at 100 locations across Indonesia are targeted to be completed in July 2026.

“The target is July for the completion of the permanent SR buildings, including one in Lampung Province,” said the Mensos during an inspection of the SR construction progress in Lampung Province in Bandarlampung on Sunday.

“In Lampung, the permanent SR construction involves 600 workers. That means more than 60,000 workers are currently engaged in activities at over 100 locations. So, we hope everything proceeds according to target,” he added.

He conveyed that up to now, the construction of Sekolah Rakyat has been running smoothly and in line with the set targets, so it is hoped that they can be used at the start of the new academic year.

“At the 100 Sekolah Rakyat locations, the construction progress is at 40 percent, 22 percent, and 30 percent in some places, and it is hoped that everything will be completed so that in July they can be used for school environment orientation,” said the Mensos.

He stated that after the permanent Sekolah Rakyat buildings are completed, students who are currently in temporary buildings will be relocated to those facilities.

“Later, the students in temporary buildings will be moved to this permanent building. This permanent building can accommodate 1,000 students from primary, junior high, and senior high schools,” he said.
