Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) opened the Training on Learning Management for Teachers and Principals of People’s Schools in 2026 in Bogor Regency. This training is being held to prepare professional leadership and learning systems in the organisation of People’s Schools in various regions.

In front of 332 participants consisting of 166 People’s School principals and 166 teachers, he explained the work processes in organising People’s Schools. According to him, teaching techniques must be adaptive, not uniform, and based on the initial abilities and needs of each student. In addition, they must be accompanied by in-depth learning.

“Everyone has abilities according to God’s creation; it must be based on individual abilities and needs, so we have the DNA Talent test. Teach understanding, not memorisation; teach analysis and independent thinking,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Friday (24/4/2026).

Gus Ipul emphasised that learning management in People’s Schools must be structured and supported by thorough planning. According to him, 50 percent of success is determined by good quality planning.

Therefore, every People’s School must prepare a learning implementation plan, educational unit curriculum, annual work plan, school activity and budget plan, as well as clear evaluation instruments. On that occasion, Gus Ipul also reminded principals to manage the People’s School budget in an accountable and transparent manner.

“Remember, every expenditure must be accountable,” Gus Ipul stressed.

Furthermore, Gus Ipul emphasised that principals become the main leaders of the learning process for 24 hours, both during classroom learning activities, dormitory guidance, and character education. Teachers play a role in shaping students’ mindsets, while caregivers assist in instilling good behaviour habits in daily life. Meanwhile, all school policies are requested to be data-based.

“Use student assessment results, DNA Talent tests, learning outcome reviews, and pay attention to student health test results,” said Gus Ipul.

In the final part, Gus Ipul encouraged People’s Schools to continue integrating literacy and digital awareness through up-to-date reading materials, the latest modules, and interactive learning media so that students do not get bored easily. However, principals and teachers are asked to be wise in always supervising students’ internet and digital device usage.

“I sternly remind you, laptops must not be taken out of the classroom; laptops must be left in the classroom and not taken to the dormitory, and ensure the internet is locked,” said Gus Ipul.

This disciplinary step is expected to create a safe, focused, and productive learning environment for all People’s School students. One of the participants, Principal of SRMP 1 Deli Serdang, Reni Lasmana Sinaga, expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to serve in People’s Schools.

“Thank you, the Ministry of Social Affairs has given me the opportunity to build a career and develop for Indonesia,” said Reni.

On that occasion, Gus Ipul officially opened the training and symbolically pinned participant badges to representatives, namely the Principal of SRMP 2 Medan Maragoti and Teacher of SRMA 29 Jayapura Nureka.

Present at the event were Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Robben Rico, Director General of Social Empowerment Mira Riyati Kurniasih, Acting Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Dody Sukmono, a number of special staff and expert staff of the Social Minister, as well as high-ranking officials.

Also present from the Centre for Education Standards and Policies of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) were Joko Purnama, Curriculum Developer of the Centre for Curriculum and Learning of Kemendikdasmen Prayoga Rendra, and Principal of SMA Labs School Kebayoran Suparno.
