Sigi (ANTARA) - The Minister of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Mensos RI), Saifullah Yusuf, visited the People’s Junior High School (SRMP) 22 in Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, to ensure that all learning processes in the area are running smoothly.

“Alhamdulillah, all equipment has been sent and is being utilised, starting from laptops and other teaching tools, so that the entire learning process at People’s Junior High School 22 Sigi can meet expectations and the children are increasingly interested in participating in the teaching and learning process at the People’s School,” said Saifullah Yusuf when met by the media in Sigi, Central Sulawesi, on Monday.

He appreciated all the school principals, teachers, and dormitory guardians at People’s Junior High School 22 Sigi who have implemented restrictions on smartphone use while in the dormitory.

“With this smartphone usage restriction, the children can read books in the garden and library when they have free time,” he said.

He explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs, together with the local government, continues to collaborate to quickly resolve issues that are obstacles in land procurement so that the permanent People’s School building can be built soon in Sigi Regency.

Saifullah mentioned that with the existence of a permanent People’s School building in Sigi, in the future it will be possible to open admissions for new students this year, because if there is no building yet, it will be difficult to accept new students later.

“The development of teaching and learning at SRMP 22 Sigi is quite good; the remaining challenge is to quickly complete the construction of the new building. In principle, the government is endeavouring to continue accepting new students this year at SRMP 22 Sigi,” he said.

According to him, the national quota for new student admissions at People’s Schools throughout Indonesia this year reaches 30,000 students.

“Insya Allah, next year it will reach 60,000 students across primary, junior high, and senior high school levels,” he stated.

It is known that the planned construction of the People’s School in Sigi Regency is located in Pombewe Village, Sigi Biromaru Subdistrict, covering 8 hectares.

The construction of the People’s School building will begin in early July 2026.
