JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has assured that the People’s School programme will not be affected by the efficiency measures currently being prepared by the government to respond to the high global oil prices resulting from the conflict in the Middle East.

Social Minister (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf, or Gus Ipul, emphasised that the People’s School programme is still running according to plan, including the fulfilment of basic needs for students.

“In principle, we will monitor developments first. At the appropriate time, the right policy will certainly be taken,” said Gus Ipul when met on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

“For the People’s School, it is a boarding school and the needs for three meals a day plus two snacks have already been prepared. For the time being, it is still in accordance with the plan,” said Gus Ipul.

Previously, Gus Ipul stated that he would prioritise programmes and sectors that directly relate to the interests of the people.

He continued that other matters that can be postponed will certainly be redirected to more urgent issues, said Gus Ipul, who will implement efficiencies.

“Yes, starting from the use of AC, electricity usage, purchasing office supplies, then meetings and so on. Of course, we will carry out efficiencies,” explained Gus Ipul.
