The Solidarity of Wives of Members of Parliament (PIA) of the PDI Perjuangan Faction of the Indonesian House of Representatives once again demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility by organising a social event. Titled ‘Sharing Blessings in Ramadan’, the event was held in collaboration with the Akbar Alqi and Assaidah orphanages in Bogor City, on Tuesday, 24th February.

The activity is part of a series of social programmes organised by PIA to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan by strengthening values of empathy, solidarity, and mutual assistance within the community.

The Chairwoman of the PDI Perjuangan Women’s Wing, Vanty Veronica, affirmed that this activity is part of the organisation’s commitment to continue to be present and provide benefits to those in need.

“Ramadan teaches us to strengthen our concern and expand our benefits. Through this activity, we want to share happiness while ensuring that the children in the orphanages feel the attention and affection from the extended family of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction. The spirit of mutual assistance and social solidarity must continue to be nurtured,” said Vanty, as quoted from a press release received on Wednesday, 25th February.

Vanty also expressed hope that social activities like this can inspire the continued cultivation of a culture of sharing, not only during Ramadan but also in everyday life.

Meanwhile, the Chairwoman of the activity committee, who is also a member of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction, Revy Septianopi, explained that the preparations for this social event were carried out through mutual cooperation by all members of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction. The wife of DPR RI Member Muhamad Abdul Azis Sefudin mentioned that the assistance provided by PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction included food packages, a washing machine, a dish rack, worship equipment (18 sarongs, 22 prayer robes, 52 prayer mats), daily necessities for children (100 snacks and milk, 120 towels), and financial aid as a form of real support for the orphans and the orphanage staff.

“We want this activity to feel warm and meaningful. With this assistance, we hope to ease the needs during Ramadan while also bringing happiness to the children living in the orphanages,” said Revy.

The Head of the Akbar Alqi Orphanage, Umayah, expressed her appreciation for the attention and support given. According to her, the presence of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction has brought new spirit to the children and helped meet some of the operational needs of the orphanage during Ramadan.

“We are very grateful and thank you for the attention from the members of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction. The presence of the members of PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction has brought happiness and new spirit to our children. The assistance provided is certainly very helpful for the needs of the children, especially in the lead-up to Ramadan. Hopefully, this kindness will become a continuous act of charity and this kind of relationship can continue,” said Umayah.

The event took place in a warm and familial atmosphere. In addition to the ceremony of handing over assistance, the activity also included a joint prayer, a short religious lecture, and direct interaction between the members of PIA and the children of the orphanage. This atmosphere of togetherness became a moment to strengthen relationships and cultivate the spirit of sharing, which is the essence of Ramadan.

Through the ‘Sharing Blessings in Ramadan’ activity, PIA of the PDI Perjuangan Faction hopes that the values of humanity, brotherhood, and social concern will continue to strengthen within the community. Ramadan is expected to be a collective momentum to expand benefits, strengthen relationships, and bring happiness to others. (E-4)
