The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has provided a prosthetic leg to Rendi (53), a resident of Lassa-Lassa Village, Gowa Regency, who lost one of his limbs in a crocodile attack while working in Malaysia in 2015. The aid was handed over during an Integrated Social Service event held in Gowa.

Rendi expressed his gratitude for the prosthetic leg, hoping it would enable him to walk again and reach his garden, as well as support his child’s future development.

Hasatama Hikmah, Head of the Gau Mabaji Centre in Gowa, stated that the integrated social service event demonstrated the Ministry’s commitment to delivering faster, precise, and comprehensive services to the community. The event provided access to at least 14 types of social services, including cataract surgery, assistive devices for persons with disabilities, entrepreneurship support, mass circumcision, free health check-ups, and empowerment programmes for former leprosy patients.

In total, the Ministry distributed ATENSI (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) worth IDR 907 million to residents of Gowa Regency. The aid package covered cataract surgeries, entrepreneurship grants, personal hygiene kits, mass circumcision, basic living necessities, school supplies, accessibility tools, nutritional support, and services for individuals freed from shackles.

Director of Social Rehabilitation for Drug Abuse Victims and People with HIV, Anna Puspitasari, highlighted that all assistance and services were based on three main principles: accurate data, precise targeting, and strengthening government priority programmes, including the ‘Sekolah Rakyat’ (People’s School) initiative, which is a focus of President Prabowo Subianto in improving public welfare. She expressed hope that recipients would utilise the aid effectively to achieve independent living and eventually graduate from social assistance programmes.
