The Ministry of Social Affairs has stated that continuously updating the National Single Socio-Economic Data (DTSEN) is important to ensure precise interventions, including in the recruitment for People’s Schools, and has therefore requested the Mandailing Natal Regency to do so promptly.

Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that the DTSEN is currently one of the important bases for implementing various government programmes. The data is used as a source for distributing social assistance, providing National Health Insurance contribution assistance, and the recruitment process for prospective People’s School participants, to ensure they are accurately targeted.

“I am pleased that the Regent is fighting hard to implement the government’s programme. Please oversee it thoroughly,” he said when receiving a visit from Mandailing Natal Regent Saipullah Nasution.

According to him, the People’s School is a programme that directly targets communities from the lowest strata. Therefore, the entire process needs serious oversight, from land readiness and administrative completeness to the implementation of construction.

Currently, the Mandailing Natal Regency Government is managing the submission for the construction of a People’s School. Previously, the submission was hampered by land issues, so the local government made efforts to relocate to an alternative site deemed more ready.

Once the new location meets the requirements, the submission will be immediately processed through the Ministry of Public Works.

He expressed hope that all requirements can be resolved soon so that Mandailing Natal Regency can be included in the third phase of People’s School construction, which is planned to begin in October 2026 and is targeted for completion before the 2027/2028 academic year starts.

Thus, local governments are expected to actively verify and update data and coordinate with the central government. Meanwhile, accelerating the readiness of People’s Schools is expected to open better educational access for children from underprivileged families in Mandailing Natal.

Meanwhile, Mandailing Natal Regent Saipullah Nasution conveyed that the local government continues to update the community’s socio-economic data. The update is carried out to ensure the data used by the government is increasingly accurate and in line with the conditions of the community in the field.

“We continue to update. We also inform the public that 6,800 records have been removed from social assistance due to online gambling,” said Saipullah.
