Social Affairs Ministry Distributes Rp544 Billion in Aid Across South Sulawesi

The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) has distributed social assistance (bansos) worth a total of Rp544 billion in South Sulawesi Province. The distribution was carried out symbolically during a specific working visit by Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the South Sulawesi Governor’s Office in Makassar on Thursday (25/6).

The assistance includes allocations for disaster logistics buffer stocks for the South Sulawesi Provincial Social Services, the Social Economic Empowerment Programme, as well as components for Disaster Alert Villages (KSB), Social Cemeteries (TMS), and Social Welfare Institutions (LUMSOS) in Makassar.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs also distributed aid through the Basic Food Programme (Sembako) and the Family Hope Programme (PKH) for the April, May, and June 2026 allocations in South Sulawesi. Additionally, Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) was distributed through the Wirajaya Centre in Makassar, the Gau Mabaji Centre in Gowa, and the Pangurangi Centre in Takalar.

During the visit, Commission VIII of the DPR RI also conducted evaluations and oversight of various social assistance programmes to ensure they are implemented according to their targets.

The Head of the Commission VIII DPR RI delegation, Erwin Aksa, stated that the specific visit aimed to ensure the DPR’s oversight function operates optimally while encouraging synergy between legislative oversight and the implementation of government programmes.

“This specific visit aims to ensure the DPR RI’s oversight function is running optimally in the field to monitor all social assistance clusters, ranging from disaster logistics to economic empowerment programmes, so that they truly provide a real impact on the welfare of the community in South Sulawesi Province,” said Erwin.

On this occasion, Commission VIII of the DPR RI and the local government also discussed accelerating the updating of poverty data and optimising the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs’ social rehabilitation centres to be more adaptive to the social, medical, and economic needs of the community.

The Head of the Makassar City Social Services, Andi Bukti Djufante, appreciated the budgetary and programme support from the central government, which is considered vital in maintaining social and economic stability in the region.

“We thank the Central Government for their great attention; we are committed to ensuring that field coordination runs excellently so that the utilisation of assistance such as PKH, Sembako, and the ATENSI programme can be felt to the maximum by the community,” said Djufante.
