Social Affairs Ministry Commits to Cutting Social Aid Processing Time
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs, through its Sentra Handayani Technical Implementation Unit (UPT), has committed to shortening the duration of processing and bureaucratic verification times in order to accelerate the distribution of social assistance to beneficiary communities.
Head of the Ministry’s Sentra Handayani, Hisyam Cholil, said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that the assurance of accelerated services was one of the main recommendations from the Public Consultation Forum (FKP) held centrally in Bambu Apus, Cipayung, East Jakarta.
“The public are customers who experience the benefits of these services, so this constructive input and criticism serves as a trigger for us to deliver services that are far faster and better,” he said.
He explained that timeliness of handling is an important aspect that directly touches upon the urgent needs of communities in the field, particularly regarding the fulfilment of social rights.
Head of the Administrative Sub-Division of Sentra Handayani, Ika Ayudya Pratiwi, acknowledged that the administrative procedures for delivering social assistance have long drawn public complaints for taking too much time.
“Of the eight services we provide, the aspect of processing time is indeed something that still needs to be improved with regard to the procedural flow for receiving social assistance,” she said.
According to her, these complaints arise because the handling process must pass through several tiered stages, from the entry of application data, factual verification in the field, through to the administrative process of handing over the assistance.
This duration constraint has become the main focus, even though Sentra Handayani’s 2025 Community Satisfaction Survey (SKM) recorded a generally high public satisfaction index, with a score of 89.
In addition to shortening case response times, she added that Sentra Handayani has also pledged to continue improving efficiency across its seven other main service units, including decent living fulfilment, childcare, psychosocial therapy, and vocational training in every service area.
