Social Affairs Minister Warns Against Any Deviations in People's School Programme
I will never tire of reminding not only all of you, but also myself and all levels of the Ministry of Social Affairs involved in organising the People’s School. The main point is no corruption. No misuse, no deviations, no sexual or physical violence, no bullying, no intolerance,” said Gus Ipul in a written statement on Friday (1/5/2026).
Not only reminding of the prohibited matters within the scope of the People’s School, Gus Ipul also stated that he would not hesitate to take firm action if any party is proven to have committed violations.
“If there are signs of bullying, violence, intolerance and there is evidence, then we will immediately dismiss them as quickly as possible,” Gus Ipul stressed.
Many parties are monitoring to ensure the People’s School runs optimally, both from the internal scope of the Ministry of Social Affairs or external supervisory parties such as the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Financial Audit Board (BPK), the prosecutor’s office and other supervisory institutions.
The eyes and ears of the public will also not overlook the organisation of the People’s School. Gus Ipul has opened the widest possible opportunities to report if any irregularities or deviations are proven in the organisation of the People’s School.
Although supervision comes from various parties, for Gus Ipul, honest and integrity-based organisation must be built as an awareness, not just an obligation.
According to him, the People’s School is a noble presidential priority programme because it favours the most incapable members of society. Therefore, he prohibits all levels of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the People’s School from harming them.
“These incapable people should not be hurt, should not be harmed, should not be exploited; instead, we should honour and respect them as part of religious commands, the 1945 Constitution, especially Article 34, and finally as part of the President’s orders,” Gus Ipul concluded.
