Social Affairs Minister Leads Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony in Ende Regency
Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) presided over the 2026 East Nusa Tenggara Province Pancasila Day commemoration ceremony at Perse Field in Ende Regency. The solemn event, themed ‘Pancasila as the Nation’s Unifier, Foundation of World Peace’, gathered thousands of participants including civil servants, military personnel, police, youth organisation representatives, and local students. Attendees also included East Nusa Tenggara Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, Ende Regent Yosef Benediktus Badeoda, Deputy Regent Dominikus Minggu Mere, Nagekeo Regent Simplisius Donatus, Ngada Deputy Regent Bernadinus Dhey Ngebu, House of Representatives member Dipo Nusantara Pua Upa, and regional security and leadership officials.
As the ceremony’s inspector, Gus Ipul delivered a speech by BPIP Chief Yudian Wahyudi, stressing Pancasila’s role as a guiding principle for national and global challenges. ‘Pancasila is a guiding star that has proven its resilience. Amid a world marked by uncertainty and fragmentation, Indonesia stands firm as a living example of how diversity can be united under a national bond,’ he stated in a written release on Monday, 1 June 2026.
Following the ceremony, Gus Ipul praised Ende residents’ enthusiasm for the event, calling it a vital part of Indonesia’s national fabric. He led attendees in singing the Pancasila-themed song ‘Rumah Kita’ by Franky Sihalatua.
Ende holds historical significance as the place where Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno, was exiled from 1934 to 1938, where he reflected on ideas that formed Pancasila’s foundation. After the ceremony, Gus Ipul visited the Breadfruit Tree in Bung Karno Memorial Park, where Sukarno meditated on the values that later became Pancasila.
The event concluded with Gus Ipul leading a mass traditional Gawi dance with around 3,000 students and residents as a symbol of unity. He urged citizens to embrace Pancasila as a daily guiding principle, not merely a slogan. ‘With Pancasila, we can become a strong nation. Let us implement its principles in daily life—it is not just rhetoric, but our way of life,’ he said.
Gus Ipul also commended regional leaders in Ende and East Nusa Tenggara for their collaborative spirit in supporting President Prabowo’s strategic programs, noting their dedication to leveraging resources and consolidating data for effective social assistance and the People’s School initiative.
