Social Affairs Minister Examines Empowerment for Families of KRL-KA Agro Bromo Collision Victims
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf is examining the provision of social assistance for the families of victims from the train collision at Bekasi Timur Station.
This assessment focuses on families of victims who are economically disadvantaged or under financial pressure when the victim was the family breadwinner.
“We will also assess the families who are victims, and the assessment results will be followed up with support from various programmes,” said the minister, familiarly known as Gus Ipul, at the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy building in Jakarta on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
One option being considered by the Ministry of Social Affairs is to include the families of victims from the collision between the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL in empowerment programmes.
“Possibly empowerment support and other necessary supports for the victims’ families,” said Gus Ipul.
As for compensation assistance, he emphasised that it is entirely the responsibility of Jasa Raharja.
“If it’s Jasa Raharja, because it’s a train accident or public transportation, generally the insurance goes through Jasa Raharja,” he explained.
The social assistance programme being considered by the Ministry of Social Affairs, according to him, stems from instructions from President Prabowo Subianto for the government to fully support the train accident victims.
“I think the government, as per the president’s directive, will provide full support to the victims. For that, we wait, the process continues, and we join in the concern and mourning,” Gus Ipul stressed.
