Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, known as Gus Ipul, has expressed his appreciation to the Bandung Regency Government for its active support of the Sekolah Rakyat (People’s Schools) programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. The appreciation was conveyed directly during a meeting at the Ministry of Social Affairs office in Jakarta.

Gus Ipul stated that the construction of the school would be carried out by the Ministry of Public Works. The Sekolah Rakyat is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 students from primary, junior high, and senior high school levels.

Bandung Regent Dadang Supriatna explained that in addition to the existing pilot Sekolah Rakyat located in the Si Jalak Harupat Sports Complex in Soreang, the regency has also prepared 7.6 hectares of land for a permanent school in Kampung Barusamoeu, Lebakmucang Village, Ciwidey District. The land is currently undergoing ground preparation to ensure safety and stability before construction begins.

Dadang noted that the local government has identified 20,303 children from poor and extremely poor families. Of these, 270 students have been designated as Sekolah Rakyat students for the 2026/2027 academic year. As the permanent building is not yet ready, these students are currently undergoing their School Orientation Period at the pilot Sekolah Rakyat in Soreang.
