Sobs and Tears Mark Funeral of Suspected Chicken Thief in Bali

The funeral procession for a suspected chicken thief in Tabanan, Bali, was filled with the sobs and tears of his family. KD, the victim, died after being mobbed when he was allegedly caught stealing a resident’s fighting cock. The sombre atmosphere at the funeral was captured in a video that has since gone viral on social media. Sidetapa Village Head I Made Sutama said KD leaves behind three children: the eldest is married, the second is in the first year of senior high school, and the youngest is in the first year of primary school. Sutama said he felt sorrow when he went to collect the victim, especially upon witnessing the sad response of his children. Nevertheless, the family is said to have accepted the loss and considers the incident that befell their father as a tragedy. According to him, the family does not plan to take legal action regarding the mob attack that caused their father’s death. The mob attack on KD occurred three days earlier in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti District, Tabanan Regency, Bali. Tabanan Police Public Relations Head, First Inspector Dian, said the mob attack occurred in the early hours of Friday, around 1.30 a.m. local time. The suspect was spotted by residents while allegedly stealing a chicken belonging to a local resident. She stated that the police are currently not only investigating the alleged chicken theft but will also thoroughly investigate the mob attack that led to the suspect’s death. Investigators are currently examining witnesses and probing the entire sequence of events, including the identification of the suspect.
