Indonesian private television stations are now airing many
soap operas, popularly known as telenovela, mostly imported from
Brazil.

These serials, even though most of them contain intrigues, are
loved by people, particularly housewives. Like it or not the
life-styles reflected in the serials will influence the behavior
of the viewers, sooner or later. A change of behavior might take
place on the part of housewives. They could become sensitive and
love intrigues.

In this context, I hope the television managements could
review the policy of airing the soap opera serials. They should
not buy the serials simply because they are cheap, they should
also consider the negative influence of the stuff on viewers.
