SNPMB 2026 Committee: TKA Scores Not the Determinant of Admission

The General Chairman of the SNPMB 2026 Organising Team, Eduart Wolok, stated that the results of the Academic Ability Test (TKA) are one of the considerations in admitting students through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP) pathway. However, the TKA results are only in the nature of additional data and not the sole determinant of passing. “Yes, TKA remains our consideration to at least carry out additional validation of the consistency between report card grades and TKA scores,” said Eduart in Jakarta on Tuesday, 31 March 2026. The Rector of Gorontalo State University (UNG) said that so far, the validation carried out using TKA scores against report card grades has gone well. All campuses have accepted the TKA scores of the applicants. He also mentioned that there have been no significant differences between TKA results and the students who registered and were accepted through the SNBP pathway. “Regarding the passing data, no striking differences have been found. So, it means that the students who pass truly have sufficient abilities,” Eduart stated. The Chairman of the Council of Rectors of Indonesian State Universities (MRPTNI) also mentioned that TKA results are used to maintain the quality of student selection. “So, for example, there is a programme with a capacity of 20, and 40 applicants. One might think we could just accept 20, right? But no, because there is a selection factor, so it might only fill 15, even though there are more than 20 applicants. That is part of our effort to maintain quality,” he said. Eduart continued that the remaining quota would automatically be added to the National Selection Based on Test (SNBT). If the quota is still not met during the SNBT period, he added, the remaining quota will be included in the independent selection quota carried out by each campus, so that the total quota does not exceed 100 percent. “So, we still use report card grades and other achievements. TKA is an instrument or additional data in each university,” Eduart Wolok concluded.
