Sniper kills one, injures three

INDONESIA: An unknown sniper shot dead one civilian and injured three others on Galunggung-Galela street in the capital of strife-torn Maluku province, Ambon, late Saturday.

Witnesses said the four were all passengers of ojek (motorcycle taxis) and were reportedly passing by on the road at around 8:15 p.m. local time.

One of the injured victims apparently fled from the scene after the incident as there were only two injured who were treated at the hospital.

Commander of the II Field Artillery Battalion Lt. Col. Broto Guncahyo confirmed the incident and said the two injured were rushed to nearby Indonesian Military (TNI) Hospital in Halong area.

The fatality was identified as Yohanis while the injured were Vera and Phillip. --JP
