SMX01 Jakarta Data Centre Construction Targeted for Completion in Q4
Jakarta (ANTARA) - SM+ Data Centers, together with Korea Investment Real Asset Management (KIRA) and LG Sinar Mas, has announced that the construction of the SMX01 data centre in South Jakarta has entered its final phase, targeted for completion in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The SMX01 data centre, designed as “AI-ready,” is being developed in Jakarta’s Central Business District to strengthen digital infrastructure and support Indonesia’s digital economic growth.
“SMX01 represents an important step in SM+ Data Centers’ journey to strengthen the national digital infrastructure ecosystem,” said Herson Suindah, President Director and Group CEO of SM+ Holdings, in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday.
According to him, SMX01 serves as a flagship facility designed to meet the needs of enterprise, hyperscale, cloud, and AI workloads in Indonesia’s digital economic hub.
“We are getting closer to delivering a facility ready to support customer needs as we enter the Ready for Service stage,” he added.
He further noted that the final construction phase or topping off of SMX01 not only marks the completion of a major construction phase but also demonstrates SM+ Data Centers’ progress in expanding its capabilities within the national data centre network towards a hyperscale-ready flagship metro data centre in Jakarta.
LG Sinar Mas, as the Design and Operation Partner for SMX01, emphasised that this achievement is part of the company’s commitment to expanding the national digital infrastructure ecosystem.
For LG Sinar Mas (LGSM), this milestone proves its capabilities in designing, building, and operating large-scale data centre projects. LGSM brings LG CNS’s global engineering standards to Indonesia.
This synergy is crucial because building next-generation data centres requires not only physical capacity but also operational readiness, system integration, and engineering discipline from the initial stages.
In the broader market context, SMX01 arrives amid rising demand for digital infrastructure capable of supporting cloud adoption, AI and machine learning workloads, compliance with local data processing requirements, and low-latency enterprise connectivity.
To that end, SMX01 is expected to add global-standard digital infrastructure capacity in Jakarta.
The strengthening of the SMX01 ecosystem is also reflected in SM+ Data Centers’ signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) to expand interconnection and support access to carrier-neutral infrastructure ahead of SMX01’s operations.
Looking ahead, the SMX01 project will enter the advanced completion phase, including refinement of main support systems, data hall readiness, and testing and commissioning processes towards the targeted operational standards.
As an investment partner, KIRA CEO Yong Sik Kim stated, “KIRA sees SMX01 as having strong long-term fundamentals to support the needs of secure, reliable, and globally standard data centres. We are proud to support this project alongside SM+ Data Centers and LG Sinar Mas.”
