Smuggled garlic seized

JAKARTA (JP): Tanjung Priok Seaport Police have seized 35 tons of smuggled garlic worth Rp 350 million (US$148,936) at Tanjung Priok harbor in North Jakarta.

City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said on Tuesday that the police also arrested two men, identified as Sn, 45, and Ns, 35, who were crew members on the KM Kabanjahe vessel which was transporting the garlic from Belawan harbor in Medan.

Two men who police believe wanted to buy the garlic were also arrested. They are identified only as Ars, 45, and Sas, 38.

"The garlic did not have any documents," Iman said.
