SMS to book a Blue Bird taxi

JAKARTA: Jakarta-based taxi company Blue Bird Group has teamed
up with publicly listed telecommunications operator PT Indosat to
enable people to get a taxi by sending a short message service
(SMS) to number 1234.

"For the next year, people who have a cellular phone with SIM
cards issued by Indosat, such as Mentari, Matrix and IM3, can
book a taxi via SMS," said Noni SA, general director of Utama
Pusaka Group, a Blue Bird subsidiary, as quoted by Antara on
Wednesday.

The new service will be launched on Friday in Greater Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Utama Pusaka Group director, Sigit P Djokosoetono,
said 90 percent of Blue Bird consumers are people who hail taxis
on the streets or call in. -- JP
