SMPN 2 Ngamprah in West Bandung Damaged, Students' Learning Disrupted

The condition of SMP Negeri 2 Ngamprah in West Bandung Regency has drawn attention due to its poor facilities. In photos circulating on social media, a number of school facilities such as toilets, blackboards, classroom windows, and ceiling panels are damaged and require attention. The situation has made learning activities uncomfortable for students.

Responding to the matter, the head of SMPN 2 Ngamprah, Agus Samsu Permana, said the school has proposed building repairs through the national education data system, known as Dapodik. A total of 29 classroom buildings have been submitted for attention. The proposals have been made since 2025, but not all have been realised.

“We have proposed repairs for these 29 classroom buildings through Dapodik. We submitted the proposal in 2025, but it has not yet been realised,” he said on Wednesday (19/8).

According to Agus, the school has continued to carry out maintenance using school operational assistance funds, known as BOS. However, the budget can only be used for minor damage and must be adjusted to needs on the ground.

“We have to adjust to the needs on the ground. It can only be used for small-scale repairs such as seating walls and broken locks. That is all we can facilitate from the BOS budget,” he said.

He rejected the notion that the school only acted after its condition went viral on social media. School maintenance had actually been planned before the condition of SMPN 2 Ngamprah’s facilities went viral.

“So I did not wait for it to go viral. We had already programmed the maintenance previously,” he said.

Meanwhile, the acting head of the West Bandung Education Office, Edy Syafrudin, explained that the school has in fact carried out maintenance on a number of facilities using BOS funds. BOS funds can be used for light maintenance needs. However, the budget is not intended for damage classified as severe.

“Maintenance has indeed been carried out using BOS funds, including walls, student seating walls, replacement of electrical cables, and several other facilities. BOS funds cannot be used for severe damage,” he said.

Edy also asked the school to immediately follow up on a number of facilities that still have minor damage, including the school’s boundary wall, using BOS funds. For severe damage, the Education Office has confirmed it will carry out rehabilitation in stages. This year, three classrooms at SMPN 2 Ngamprah will be rehabilitated.

“This year we will carry out rehabilitation of three classrooms. Then next year, we will also carry out rehabilitation at the school,” he said.
