SMP-SMA/SMK Orientation Duration Set at Five Days
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has made several changes to the Friendly School Orientation Programme (MPLS Ramah), including extending the duration to five days and involving student council (OSIS) or MPK members at the junior and senior high school levels. Secretary of the Directorate General of Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary Education (Sesditjen PAUD Dasmen) at Kemendikdasmen, Eko Susanto, stated that there are fundamental changes to this year’s MPLS Ramah implementation, as stipulated in Permendikdasmen Number 12 of 2026. “In the provisions of Permendikdasmen Number 12 of 2026, we regulate that the implementation lasts five days,” Eko said in Jakarta on Wednesday. The 2026 MPLS Ramah has a duration of five implementation days, an increase of two days compared to the previous regulation on the Introduction to the School Environment for New Students, which was stipulated in Permendikbud Number 18 of 2016. He said this duration can be adjusted for boarding schools, special needs schools (SLB), and special service schools, provided it is reported to the local Education Office or Kemendikdasmen. Eko added that the provisions for the MPLS Ramah organising committee have also changed this year. Educational units may involve students who are members of the OSIS or MPK at the junior and senior high school levels. However, he reminded that there are several requirements that these students must meet before participating in this year’s MPLS Ramah committee. “OSIS or MPK administrators who assist the committee must primarily have good character and no history of violence, so that the implementation remains safe and positive,” Eko said. For information, based on Permendikdasmen Number 12 of 2026, the requirements include that the student must be an OSIS administrator/MPK member/extracurricular organisation administrator, and must not have tendencies towards bad behaviour and/or a history as a perpetrator of violence (bullying). If a school does not yet have an OSIS/MPK/extracurricular organisation, students may still join the MPLS Ramah committee provided they have academic and/or non-academic achievements and good interpersonal skills.
