Smooth Homecoming Traffic Flow Leads to Halt of National One-Way Scheme
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The Chief of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Irjen Pol Agus Suryonugroho, announced that the national one-way traffic engineering for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming has been officially halted. This decision was made after the traffic flow towards the Trans-Java toll road was deemed stable and under control. The Traffic Corps conducted an evaluation with relevant stakeholders. The previous implementation of the national one-way homecoming scheme began on 18 March 2026, accompanied by socialisation and route sterilisation before traffic returned to normal conditions. “After the socialisation, we carried out sterilisation and clearance for normal flow. Therefore, with the permission of the National Police Chief, for the return flow or National One-Way, we declare it closed at 13:22 earlier,” said Agus at the Traffic Corps Command Centre in Cikampek on Friday (20/3/2026). He explained that traffic conditions have now returned to normal, both for vehicles heading to Jakarta and eastward to Semarang. Most homecomers have reached their destinations after passing the peak homecoming period. Agus noted that the evaluation results showed the peak homecoming flow this year increased compared to the previous year. Data recorded a rise of about 4.62% from 258,000 to 270,000 vehicles. “The homecoming flow was quite controlled. This year is indeed different because compared to last year’s homecoming flow, there was a significant increase,” said the two-star general.
