Smoking immunity?
Smoking immunity?
From Kompas
On Monday Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. I had lunch at the Au Bon Pain cafe in Kuningan Plaza. After a while a group of business "executives" wearing ties and office IDs entered the restaurant.
One of them with cigarette in hand was about to light up but his colleagues showed him the "no smoking" sign on the wall. But the man smirking disdainfully said that the prohibition did not apply to him. He could smoke anywhere he pleased without regard for other people.
When asked about the smoking guest a cafe employee told me that he had previously been reprimanded by the manager on duty but he did not care.
I regret the man's attitude as if vaunting his immunity toward regulations while the government is taking great pains to enforce discipline and to appeal to the community to reduce smoking for health's sake.
