Smoke Plumes Visible at US Embassy in Kuwait Following Iranian Attack

Black smoke was observed rising from the US Embassy in Kuwait on Monday, according to an AFP correspondent, as the diplomatic mission issued an urgent security warning and advised people not to visit the location. Iran continued its third day of sustained attacks in the region.

Sirens had sounded across Kuwait City following the latest Iranian strikes, which constitute retaliation for recent US and Israeli operations that resulted in the deaths of Iran’s highest-ranking official and several other senior government figures.

Whilst the US Embassy did not formally announce that it had been attacked, it issued an urgent security alert instructing residents to maintain distance from the facility. The Kuwait Interior Ministry stated that it had successfully intercepted a number of unmanned drones that had been targeting Kuwaiti territory.
