Smoke Haze Blankets Palangka Raya, Disrupting Visibility

Smoke haze from forest and land fires (karhutla) blanketed Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on Friday (28/8/2026). The smoke was visible covering the Kahayan Bridge area and reduced visibility for road users. Based on monitoring from the Himawari-9 satellite by BMKG at 13.00 WIB, smoke was detected in the Central Kalimantan region, moving towards the northwest and north. The smoky conditions can impair visibility and increase the risk of health problems, particularly affecting the respiratory tract. Residents are advised to reduce outdoor activities when air quality deteriorates, wear masks when they must be outside, and maintain their health by ensuring adequate water intake. Motorists are also urged to exercise greater caution as visibility may decrease.
