Jakarta (ANTARA) - Accompanying teacher from SMK Negeri 19 Jakarta, Christine Rambing, stated that the “Palace for School Students” programme serves as an educational platform to directly acquaint participants with the government bureaucracy and administrative governance system.

In an official statement from the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Tuesday, Christine expressed gratitude to President Prabowo Subianto and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya for providing the students of SMK Negeri 19 Jakarta with the opportunity to visit the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“Our children received education regarding bureaucracy within the government, particularly in this State Secretariat. Our colleagues, including the teachers, were delighted. Our children were also extremely pleased to be given this inaugural opportunity for the activity,” said Christine.

According to her, the visit not only evoked pride but also unexpected surprises. Initially, the group anticipated merely attending a discussion session.

However, they were instead invited to tour various rooms in the State Palace. For Christine, this was something previously unimaginable.

“We participated, and beyond our predictions, we were taken on a room tour to observe the environment in the State Palace, which we had never entered before. Finally, we got inside, room by room, and received education,” she said.

More than just a visit, the activity also opened avenues for dialogue among the students. During the question-and-answer session, the pupils actively voiced their aspirations and questions, including how to convey their ideas to the government.

For Christine, the experience holds strong educational value relevant to the school’s teaching process. The students not only understood theory but also witnessed firsthand the implementation of public policies they had studied.

The opportunity did not come easily. She explained that the school proactively sought information and submitted a request to participate in the programme.

“It just so happened that there were activities from programmes where staff visit schools. We received information from there. So, we followed up to see if, whenever the Cabinet Secretariat holds activities, we could join,” she clarified.

The enthusiasm of the students and teachers demonstrates that direct experiences have a far deeper impact.

They returned not only with stories but with dreams that one day they too could be there, becoming part of the generation that leads and builds Indonesia.
