SMK Negeri 1 Sorong Students Send Thank You Letter to President Prabowo Subianto

A mix of emotion and pride enveloped SMK Negeri 1 Sorong as one of its students, Marlince Yadafat, read an open letter addressed to President Prabowo Subianto. The letter expressed gratitude for various educational support that has benefited students in Papua.

This special moment took place in the presence of the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu’ti, on Wednesday (27 May). In her speech, Marlince, representing her peers, stated that central government attention has had a tangible impact on the quality of teaching and learning at their school.

‘With respect, we, the students of SMK Negeri 1 Sorong, extend our deepest thanks to President Prabowo Subianto for the construction of the library, toilets, and nutritious meals at the school,’ Marlince said, quoting an official statement.

The new facilities are not merely physical constructions but also a source of motivation for students. Marlince explained that the more representative library has spurred literacy among pupils. Additionally, improved sanitation through the construction of suitable toilets has enhanced health standards and comfort within the school environment.

‘Schools are our children’s second home. Therefore, schools are a microcosm of Indonesia,’ Abdul Mu’ti stated. He hopes schools will serve as a platform where children from diverse cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds can unite to grow into intelligent, skilled, and independent generations.
